Half a day in Learmonth
An unhurried morning or afternoon around the lake and the heritage precinct, ideal as a first taste of the town.
Start at the lake
Begin on the eastern shore of Lake Learmonth, closest to the township, where the picnic areas, playgrounds and nature walks are concentrated. A slow walk along the shoreline gives you the volcanic-hills backdrop that frames the lake to the north, west and south.

Walk the heritage precinct
From the lake, move into the township streets and take the heritage precinct at walking pace. Look for the surviving 1850s and 1860s buildings, including the former courthouse, the early timber churches and the Stag Hotel building.
