Learmonth Heritage Walk
A self-guided walk through the Learmonth Heritage Precinct, whose streets retain buildings from the 1850s onwards including the former courthouse and early timber churches.
The Learmonth Heritage Precinct is recognised on the Victorian Heritage Database for its mix of mid-to-late nineteenth and early twentieth century residential, commercial, civic and community buildings, laid out on subdivisions that date from the town's first land sales in 1859 and 1860.
Walking the precinct at your own pace takes you past surviving early buildings, among them the Stag Hotel building (circa 1854), timber Presbyterian and Catholic churches (circa 1857), the police station with its brick stables and lock-up, and the courthouse erected in the 1860s.
