Learmonth's streets are the attraction: an intact precinct of nineteenth-century buildings recorded on the Victorian Heritage Database.
The heritage precinct retains buildings from the 1850s and 1860s, including the former courthouse, early timber churches and the Stag Hotel building, on street subdivisions unchanged since the first land sales of 1859 and 1860. It is best taken slowly and on foot.

Learmonth grew as an overnight stop on the road from Ballarat to the Avoca goldfields. The same touring logic still works: pair the town with Clunes and Creswick for a fuller goldfields day.
