Learmonth is a small town, so most visitors plan food around it rather than in it: provision in Ballarat, picnic at the lake, and use the surrounding towns for cafes and pubs.

The reliable approach is to stock up in Ballarat, twenty-odd minutes away, and eat beside Lake Learmonth at the picnic reserves. On touring days, Clunes and Creswick both offer main-street cafes and hotels.
