Lake Burrumbeet
A large freshwater lake about 20 kilometres west of Ballarat and a short drive from Learmonth, popular for walking, picnicking, foreshore camping, boating and redfin fishing.
Lake Burrumbeet is one of the region's largest freshwater lakes, lying roughly 20 kilometres west of Ballarat and an easy drive across the plains from Learmonth. The foreshore is used for walking, picnicking, camping, boating and fishing.
Unpowered foreshore camping is permitted along parts of the lake edge, with basic long-drop toilets available. The lake is known among anglers as a productive redfin perch fishery. Facilities are basic, so come self-sufficient and check conditions locally, as water levels vary.
A complementary lakes stop about ten minutes' drive from Learmonth, often combined with Lake Learmonth in a day of lakes-and-plains touring.
